In Itacaré, you'll almost always have to pay in cash and in Brazilian "Reais". Credit cards are only accepted in a few hotels and supermarkets. On the other hand, bringing a VISA card (with pin number) is useful, since you can get up to R$ 1000,00 (about US $ 650.00) on the cash dispenser of "Banco do Brasil".

You can officially exchange USD and EURO in Itacaré at reasonable exchange rates. Please note through that it can be difficult to change other foreign currencies than these.

Expect to get very low exchange rates for traveler checks.

In August 2008 the exchange rate for US $ 1.00 cash, in Itacaré, was R$ 1,50.

Clothing

As for clothes to bring: don't carry weight!

Some Bermudas and t-shirts + a pair of solid sandals with straps that can stand a 20 minutes walk trough the jungle will do a good  ob.

All necessary clothes can also be found in Itacaré reasonable quality an low prices.

In the winter months from June to September, we recommend bringing one pair of light long trousers and a light pullovers. A light rain coat isn't a bad idea, too.

Safety

Safety

rogerio

Itacaré is a relaxed place, also concerning thefts.

However please note that at least 60% of the population lives in tough poverty.

In consequence, foreign tourists are very rich persons, compared to the locals. Even so, locals have received EasyDrop clients with great friendliness for years.

You should take care anyway when going out at night since, wherever the party is, there will mostly be some "rats" around. So use common sense and don't show valuables.
