Most of our clients enter Brazil via one of the following International airports:
Rio de Janeiro (airport abbreviation: GIG);
São Paulo (GRU);
Salvador da Bahia (SSA).
Fom there, they use domestic flight services to Ilhéus, Bahia (IOS), which is the closest airport to Itacaré.
Whether flying or driving, you will necessarily pass through the city of Ilhéus, around 70km (47 miles) South of Itacaré, since the only asphalt road to Itacaré starts there. This will remain fact at least until mid 2008, when the new paved road from Camamu to Itacaré is supposed to open, then directly connecting Itacaré to Salvador via the coastal road (shortening the road trip from now 7 hours to something around 3 hours).
The airport of Ilhéus receives several daily flights from all major cities in Brazil. There are currently two airlines flying into Ilhéus: TAM (www.tam.com.br) and Gol (www.voegol.com.br).
You can contract the airport shuttle service between Ilhéus and Itacaré as part of an EasyDrop surf course packages. This taxi service is group independent and available for any time, day or night.
